Skin Type Product Guide
Understanding The Different Skin Types
Everyone’s skin is different, that’s what makes us unique. However, with every skin type comes different skincare needs. Not every skincare product is designed to treat all skin types equally. In fact, if you use the wrong products or ingredients, it can cause redness or irritation. The best thing you can do for your skin is to identify the type of skin you have and find products that use ingredients that work to enhance your natural beauty.
There are tons of skincare products on the market, and it can be hard to know what ingredients are best for your skin type. We’re here to help you navigate through the different ingredients and find products that can improve your skin and give you the fresh, beautiful complexion you deserve. By finding skincare products with ingredients that work for your skin, you can avoid irritation and keep your skin happy and healthy.
How to identify your skin type
There are two common ways to identify your skin type: observation and blotting sheets. Both methods are effective and are an essential first step toward building a skincare routine that works for you.
The Observation Method
After you clean your face with your go-to cleanser, leave your skin alone for 30 minutes. After that, you can examine your face for shine and dryness on your cheeks and T-Zone area. If you notice excessive shine, you probably have oily skin. If your skin feels tight in certain areas or is flaky, you probably have dry skin. If the shine and oily texture only exists in your T-Zone, you probably have combination skin. If your skin feels hydrated and not oily, you probably have normal skin.
Blotting Sheets
If you’re looking for something quicker, blotting sheets can be a great tool to help identify oily skin textures. Simply pat a blotting sheet on different parts of your face, and then hold the sheet up to a light to see how much oil is visible on the sheet. If you don’t see any oil, you probably have dry skin. If the blotting sheet has excessive oil on the sheet, you probably have oily skin. If the blotting sheet only picked up oil from the T-Zone area, you probably have combination skin. Keep in mind: these blotting sheets aren't great for identifying between dry and normal skin types.

Aging Skin
Look for products that contain: Probiotics, Collagen, Retinol, Antioxidants, Vitamin C, Peptides, and Niacinamide
As we get older, our skin changes. As our outer layer of skin called the epidermis begins to thin, it can reduce our skin's strength and elasticity. This can cause noticeable signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles
The go-to ingredient you should always be looking for to help with signs of aging is retinol. Retinol is a type of retinoid that is derived from vitamin A. It’s a must-have ingredient for just about any skin type and can help you see the results you’re looking for. Our Retinol Advanced Moisture Cream is formulated with advanced microencapsulated retinol to help improve efficacy, boost firmness and help with elasticity. When used regularly, it can help improve your skin tone and texture, which will give you the healthier, younger-looking skin you hope to achieve.

Oily Skin
If you have oily skin, your skin may appear shiny because of excessive sebum. You may feel like your complexion is greasy on all areas of your skin, not just the T-Zone. You also may be prone to larger pores or ache. Don’t worry: the good news is your skin probably looks younger and is less prone to fine lines and wrinkles. When looking for ways to upgrade your skincare routine, you'll want to find products that help prevent buildup in your pores and keep your skin texture balanced.
Our Advice
To help balance your skin texture without leaving you feeling greasy, you’ll need something lightweight and easy on the skin. We recommend trying our Pumpkin Oil Moisturizing Cream. Pumpkin oil is rich in vitamin A and C and will leave your skin feeling soft and smooth, without feeling greasy.
Look for products that contain: Beta Hydroxy Acid, Pumpkin Oil, Rosa Damascena Flower Water, Niacinamide, Retinol, Vitamin C
If you have oily skin, you probably are looking for products that can help combat unwanted shine while helping to treat acne-prone areas. Some ingredients can provide too much moisture to your complexion, leaving you looking greasy rather than moisturized. That’s why it’s essential to find ingredients that work for your skin.
Our favorite product to recommend to individuals with oily skin is our Rose Water Facial Toner Spray. The active ingredient is Rosa Damascena Flower Water, which has mild astringent properties, making it great for oily skin types. It won’t strip your skin of its natural oils, unlike other toners that contain alcohol. It also has Rose Damascena flower oil, which is a non-comedogenic that won’t clog your pores.

Dry Skin
With dry skin, you may notice your skin feels tight in certain places or has visible signs of dryness, like flaky areas or rough patches. If you leave your skin dry for too long, it could become red or irritated due to outside factors, climate changes, and hormonal imbalances.
Our Advice
Dry skin types are typically genetic. If your skin lacks elasticity or often feels dry or dull, you probably have dry skin. Dry skin needs a little extra TLC to help soften your complexion and combat the dryness. If left untreated or treated with the wrong ingredients, it may leave your skin red, irritated, or itchy.
Look for products that contain: Avocado Oil, Honey, Coconut Oil, Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides, Vitamin C, Lactic Acid, Aloe Vera
Skincare products with hydrating ingredients are a must-have that can help improve the texture and look of your skin. If your skin needs a hydration boost, we always recommend high-quality moisturizers like our Extra Virgin Coconut Oil Moisturizing Cream. This effective moisturizer is lightweight, yet effective. It's formulated with a blend of vitamins and natural oils to get your skin looking supple and plump. When used regularly, it can help your skin retain essential fatty acids and improve its appearance over time.

Combination Skin
This skin type is a combination of both dry and oily skin. Typically, your T-Zone is where most of the oily texture resides, and your cheeks may be prone to dryness. To help balance the inconsistencies in your skin, we recommend using a gentle exfoliator daily to help with uneven textures. Since your skin is different in all places, you’ll want to find a moisturizer that effectively hydrates without over-moisturizing your skin
Our Advice
Keep in mind: it might take a while to find the perfect moisturizer to complement your combination skin and your skincare routine. We recommend starting with our Vitamin C Brightening Moisture Cream. This cream utilizes the power of Vitamin C to help visibly enhance your skin tone, provide all-day hydration, and give your skin a radiant glow.
Look for products that contain: Probiotics, Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C, Retinol, Peptides, Salicylic Acid
When it comes to combination skin, everyone’s skin is different and is tricky to treat. You want to be careful not to over hydrate oily parts of your skin or clog your pores while treating stubborn dryness. When looking for ingredients and skincare products, you’ll want to find ones that work to balance your skin and smooth uneven skin tones and textures.
